If you want to give it a special shine, you can try dipping it in a solution of liquid detergent diluted in lukewarm water. Then clean it very carefully using either a soft cloth or toothbrush. Finally, wash it methodically and dry it with a polishing cloth or chamois. If your watch is not water resistant, you must be even more careful to keep the water from touching the face or inner components of the watch. Bear in mind that it is always preferable to take your gold watch to a skilled polisher in order to do this – they are readily available at any jewelry store.
