Gold is a very precious and beautiful element and one that every person wants a gold watch or anything golden. It is used mainly for creating ornaments, so it only natural that it has to look stunning on the person who gets to wear it. Gold is a very soft metal and lacks stability, so, metals like copper and silver are added to gold to give it sufficient strength. The elasticity of gold is measured in karats, ranging between 10-24 karats, where 24 karats is known as pure gold, which is very soft and most costly.

We need to take utmost care to avoid any sort of scratches or dents on gold watches. They could be easily scratched when they are rubbed with hard gems, such as diamonds. Therefore, we need to keep gold watches as far away as possible from any other pieces or in metal cases. Also make sure that you do not wear them along with other jewels made of other metals and gems, which may cause some impressions or nicks over the surface. You should be very careful especially with your watch since it we use our hand in a plethora of activities.

Also, try to keep your watch away from chemicals, such as chlorine which degrades the structural rigidity of the watch. Another thing to remember is that a gold watch might to lose its shine or finish when it is being subjected to soap, hence wearing your watch while having a bath is strictly prohibited. It must not be prone to moisture, thus try to avoid wearing your watch while swimming in the pool or when you are in a hot tub. Also, mostly for our precious ladies, while cleaning or spraying hair or applying perfume, try to keep your watch at a safer place.

Remember to clean your gold watch at least once every month to retain its gloss and fine finish. If you want to give it a special shine, you can try dipping it in a solution of liquid detergent diluted in lukewarm water. Then clean it very carefully using either a soft cloth or toothbrush. Finally, wash it methodically and dry it with a polishing cloth or chamois. If your watch is not water resistant, you must be even more careful to keep the water from touching the face or inner components of the watch. Bear in mind that it is always preferable to take your gold watch to a skilled polisher in order to do this – they are readily available at any jewelry store.

Gold is valuable, confers distinction and it rarely depreciates. It is however sensitive, much like all the precious things in life, so take every possible measure to keep its shine intact. When a gold watch or any other gold jewel is given such high attention, it becomes a collection staple that will last long for the years to come.
